Economy of Love
Shane ClaiborneThis curriculum challenges everything you thought to be true of the “American Dream” in relationship to what God has to say about how you put both your financial and relational resources to use. Shane Claiborne shares his heart for others and offers insight into Scripture and the early church that deepens the love and compassion for the least of these that are encountered on an everyday basis. With captivating stories and images, and thought-provoking questions participants will be challenged to think through a new lens and to step out of their comfort zone to make a difference in the lives of others while have their own life re-shaped.
This includes five sessions, all about 8-10 minutes in length:
1. Tension - Being the hands and feet of Jesus in a broken world.
2. Enough - Christ’s demand to love our neighbor through redistribution.
3. Vulnerable - Living lives that collide with those of the marginalized.
4. Filled - Is the gospel we preach good news for the rich and the poor alike?
5. Practice - Following Jesus with our hands, our feet, and our resources.
This study comes with a detailed Leader/Participant’s Guide that includes a marked up manuscript with teacher notes, group discussion questions, and commentary based on the material that is presented. Participants will be further challenged by questions thta deepend their knowledge of their own faith community as they are called to action to be the hands and feet of Christ in their communities.
