Focus Areas
FOCUS AREAS
LCBC’s main strategy for impacting the world is Focus Areas. Specific communities around the world are chosen to partner with providing support for the physical and spiritual needs of that community. Focus Areas are targeted communities within countries where the greatest opportunity for impact lies. It is LCBC’s goal to have a Focus Area in each major region of the world.
Current Focus Areas:
- South Central PA: A primary focus is our local communities, by sharing stories with family and friends, inviting others to join in weekend gatherings and serve in neighborhoods.
- Frydlant, Czech Republic: An initial relationship began in 1999 with the organization Josiah Venture, dedicated to reach the youth of the Czech Republic. An established connection is through a church in the town of Frydlant (Frydlant nad Ostravici), where a team of young adults and students travel each year to help teach English and share their faith. It is a great opportunity for them to hear and see the love of Christ, since many consider themselves atheists. For more information on Czech Republic and Josiah Venture click here.
- Tseikuru, Kenya: The focus started in 2003 with Tseikuru, Kenya in a community of 28,000 where people are affected by AIDS, poverty and lack of water. Individuals were given the opportunity to sponsor children through World Vision, the response was amazing and since the impact has grown to over 2000 sponsors. Recent efforts include funding for water wells, water systems, livestock, plows, rain catchment systems, school facilities and more. - Sattur, India: In 2009, LCBC began the emphasis in this community helping people known as Dalits (formerly “untouchables”). Our goal is to work with the Dalit Freedom Network (DFN) and Operation Mobilization (OM) to assist with physical and spiritual needs, as many look for answers outside of Hinduism. To help them rise above their bondage support is given through education, educational facilities, self-help micro-finance groups, healthcare, justice issues and church planting.
