John tells this story in detail so we know it really happened. Thomas is a skeptic. He wasn鈥檛 a gullible, uneducated person who believed what he hoped was true. He had to be convinced, and he was. Believing that Jesus rose from the dead takes faith, but not blind or unreasonable faith.
