Paul writes to churches in Galatia, which he also started. Paul is writing to instruct them that they can only come to God through Jesus’ death. However, Jesus’ death didn’t give them the freedom to sin, but freedom from sin. We can sometimes feel sin is fun and freedom would be doing whatever we want, even if it is wrong. The view here is that sin is bondage. Jesus not only brought forgiveness, He allowed the Holy Spirit to free us from bondage to sin. We also have each other for support in overcoming our tendency to move toward that bondage.
