Bible Reading / Coming Soon: The End Is Only the Beginning

Day 4 | What We're Actually Waiting For

Read:

When most people picture eternity, they imagine something vague—clouds, maybe harps, a kind of celestial waiting room. But this is not what the Bible describes. Revelation 21 doesn’t depict escape from the world; it shows us a world finally made right. God isn't building something new somewhere else and whisking us away. He’s coming here to restore what he already created.

At the center of everything is the promise that God will be with us. That means our idea of Heaven—a place somewhere above the clouds where we go after we die—is limited. Heaven is the full, face-to-face presence of the God who made us and loves us. Every ache you've felt, every tear you've cried, every moment the world has felt broken beyond repair won’t be swept under the rug. It will be wiped away, and you will be made new.

The return of Jesus isn't the end of the story. It's the beginning of the best part. And that hope colors everything we experience right now. Grief is real, but it’s not final. Darkness is real, but it won’t win. God is making everything new.

Reflect: What broken thing in your life or in the world do you most long for God to make right? Sit with that longing for a moment—and then let it become a prayer of hope rather than despair.
