Read:

You've never said it out loud, but the thought has crossed your mind: What if none of this is real? What if I've built my whole life on something that isn't true?

You're not the first person to wonder. It's easy to ask whether God is there at all, and whether he's even listening if he is.

Even people who met Jesus face to face had doubts. One father brought his son, who was tormented by an evil spirit, and asked Jesus to help if he could. Jesus pushed back: "What do you mean, 'If I can'? Anything is possible if a person believes" (Mark 9:23, NLT).

The father's reply is one of the most honest prayers in Scripture: "I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24, NLT).

He brought belief and doubt to Jesus in the same breath. And Jesus healed his son.

God can handle your questions. He isn't waiting for you to settle every doubt before you come close. Bring him the belief you have and the unbelief you're fighting, and let him meet you there.

Pray: God, I do believe, but I need help with my unbelief. You know the questions I've been afraid to say out loud. Meet me in them and draw me closer to you. Amen.
