David suffers extreme humiliation because of his son鈥檚 rebellion. Absalom even rapes David鈥檚 concubines, or slave wives, in the view of all the people. The prophecy Nathan delivered in 2 Samuel 12:11 is fulfilled.
Though David鈥檚 sin is forgiven, there are still consequences for his choices. When we trust Jesus, we can be thankful our sins are forgiven and the eternal consequences no longer exist. However, the relationships we have broken and the injuries we have caused may take longer to repair.
