When you're afraid there won't be enough—enough money, enough time, enough security—you grip a little tighter to whatever you've got. It's instinct. Nobody has to teach it to you.
Jesus meets that fear head-on. Don't worry about all these things, he says, because your Father already knows what you need. Seek his kingdom first, and everything else falls into its right place.
Notice Jesus doesn't pretend your needs aren't real. He just says you're not carrying them by yourself. There's a Father in the picture who already knows, already sees, and already provides. That's what makes open hands possible: trust. You can loosen your grip because you know God won't loosen his.
So what's the fear that keeps your hands closed? Name it. You can always pick the worry back up tomorrow—but hand it to God today, open your hands, and you may find you don't want it back.
Pray: God, I hold on tight because part of me is scared there won't be enough. Here's the fear I keep gripping: ______. I'm handing it to you. Help me trust that you already know what I need, and free me to live with open hands. Amen.
