Read:

Jesus knew what it felt like to be utterly alone. On the cross, he experienced the culmination of everything: God’s silence, the weight of sin, and crushing separation from God. And he named exactly what he felt, crying out and asking God why he abandoned him.

You probably know the feeling. Sure, you’ve never hung from a cross, but you’ve wondered where God is. You’ve prayed and heard nothing back. You’ve walked through betrayal, loss, depression, disappointment, and felt like God was absent.

How have you responded in those difficult times? Have you ever dared to question God, to cry out to him and ask “Why?” like Jesus did? Or have you tried to ignore your feelings and doubts because someone told you they were wrong?

Jesus’ words in his final moments show us a different picture of faith: that it’s less about pretending we always understand or holding our questions from God and more about simply crying out in the dark when we don’t understand.

So today, say the prayer you’ve been afraid to say. Ask God the question you’ve been avoiding. Be honest—and watch how he transforms your doubts into confidence and deeper faith.

Pray: God, meet me in this moment of loneliness. Help me through this darkness I’m facing, and remind me that because of the cross, I’m never abandoned. Amen.
