Read Proverbs 30:8-9

Every single day we have to battle the consumption assumption.

What is the consumption assumption? It’s the belief that everything we have is for our own use and enjoyment. Should we enjoy the things we have? Absolutely! God gives us good gifts to enjoy, but that isn’t the entire equation. He also trusts us with our resources to be a blessing to others.

In our culture, it’s tough to know when enough of a good thing is enough. When writing to his student Timothy, Paul says that godliness with contentment is great gain. He is saying that when we recognize that more isn’t always better, we can live in a way that seeks not just to consume, but to contribute to the world around us. So, if you’re feeling bold, pray the words of Proverbs 30:8-9.
