Bible Reading / Romans: Faith That Changes Everything

Day 9 | Living Out What You Believe

Read:

If you believe, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that it’s going to rain today, you’ll grab an umbrella on your way out the door. If you believe the gas in your tank isn’t enough to get you home, you’ll stop for gas. Belief leads to action.

We believe that Jesus is the only way for us to be forgiven. So what action follows? Paul wrote, “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you… Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

Considering everything Paul had written before, this is what we’ll do: give our lives, our plans, our finances—even our own bodies—over to God, so that he can use them to bring more people to himself.

We’re able to do that when we allow God’s Word in the Scriptures to transform the way we think. This section of Paul’s letter gives an overview, but the rest of the Bible does, too. Feeling like you’re not enough or that you don’t matter? Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reminds us that we are chosen, secure, and seen by God. Want to make sure you don’t add to past regrets? God’s Word has guidance for building relationships, managing finances, and focusing on what matters as we navigate a world that often wants to destroy it all.

Living isolated from other Christians makes this harder. We need relationships built on God’s love and his Word. Joining a Group is a great way to build relationships with other people who are curious, seeking, and learning to fully follow Jesus.

Pray: Dear God, I want to live my life for you. I want other people to see that I am a life changed by what you have done for me. Change the way I think so that I can change the way I live. Amen.
