Bible Reading / Rooted: Choosing Integrity When It Matters Most

Day 6 | Owning Mistakes and Growing

Read:

Nobody enjoys being wrong. It’s uncomfortable, even embarrassing. Our instinct is to hide it, defend it, or blame someone else.

But integrity isn’t about never messing up. It’s about what we do when we do.

There’s freedom in saying, “Yeah, that was on me.” Owning our mistakes is humbling—but it’s also how we grow. Proverbs 28:13 reminds us that hiding our failures keeps us stuck, while confessing them opens the way to mercy and change.

That could mean apologizing to a spouse, admitting a mistake at work, or telling a friend the truth. It’s scary—but on the other side is peace, growth, and restored trust.

Is there something you need to own up to today? How might honesty move you forward?

Pray: Father, thank you that I don’t have to be perfect—just honest. Help me own my mistakes and grow through them. Let confession lead me to mercy and real change.
