Read: Romans 8:16, Galatians 5:22-23
Have you ever had a “gut feeling” you couldn’t shake about a decision that made
complete sense on paper? Or felt undeniable peace about a choice you couldn’t
fully explain—even if it didn’t make sense?
That quiet inner voice is often God’s Holy Spirit. When you trust Jesus, the Holy
Spirit takes residence in your heart and mind. The Spirit acts as a guide, helping
you live in a way that’s in line with the great things God wants for you.
How do you know if it’s the Holy Spirit speaking to you? The Holy Spirit will always
lead you toward love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness,
faithfulness, and self-control. You may feel challenged to step out of your comfort
zone or trust when you can’t see the bigger picture—but the Spirit will never make
you feel fearful or shameful.
Practice: Talk to the Holy Spirit! Talk about a question, a decision, or something
that’s happening in your life where you need guidance. Sit quietly for a few
minutes and see if any “gut feelings” or nudges come up. If it sounds like love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, or self-control, it’s
likely from the Holy Spirit.
