Bible Reading / Up Against a Wall: The Life of David

Day 24 | Hope in Brokenness

Read:

Can despair and hope coexist? David seemed to think so, based on Psalms he wrote like this one.

We live in a broken world. We witness trauma daily. Families are broken. People live in fear of the future. Men, women and children go hungry and homeless, not just abroad but in our own neighborhoods.

Brokenness doesn’t just exist on a global level. We have our own cracks, too. We lose our temper. We seek selfish gain. We self-medicate. We lie. We cut corners. We don’t have to look beyond the mirror to know that there's trouble in this world.

Yet for followers of Jesus, we also live with the hope that this life doesn’t get the final say. We serve a God who can use all things and work them for our good and his glory. He is in the process of restoring everything—starting with you.

David's story is your story. He never failed David, and he will never fail you. Let’s be like David and trust in God’s rescue, even if it hasn't come yet.
