-Safety is a top priority at kidVenture Island, and all
leaders are responsible for helping keep kids emotionally, spiritually,
and physically safe.
-All leaders are mandated reporters by law and must report any suspected physical abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect.
-If
a child shares something concerning, stay calm, listen carefully, and
do not promise secrecy—instead, explain that you need to share the
information to help keep them safe.
-If abuse is suspected, make a
report immediately by calling ChildLine or filing an online report, even
if you do not know every detail.
-After making a report, debrief
with an LCBC staff member, keep the matter confidential, and continue
supporting the child through prayer and care.
-Mandated reporters should not investigate or try to prove abuse; they only need reasonable cause to make a report.
