The first part of chapter 6 continues the idea of the church taking care of itself. Paul talks about how Christians should not be taking each other to court. Legal disputes between Christians should be rare, but when they happen, they should be resolved within the church according to Christian principles.

Paul then talks about sexual sin. He sees this type of behavior as especially damaging because it is so closely connected to our bodies. When a person trusts Jesus, the Holy Spirit begins to dwell in his or her body. Paul sees this use of our bodies - that are the dwelling place of God - as especially disturbing. It’s thought-provoking that the Holy Spirit lives in us. That means whenever a Christian does something wrong, sexual or not, the Holy Spirit is right there to experience it along with us. You probably drive differently when a police car is behind you. How do you live differently knowing the Holy Spirit is in you?
