Jesus' final words before he ascended into heaven were instructions—and they weren't just for pastors or church leaders. They were a charge for everyone who follows him to continue the work he started.
You've been given an incredible purpose: to introduce people to Jesus so together we can fully follow him. Maybe you're wondering, What could God possibly do with someone like me? You may think you're too young or too old, or that you haven't followed Jesus long enough. But none of those things disqualify you.
Some of Jesus' closest followers were ordinary fishermen, not highly educated theologians. Look at the Apostle Paul: God used him to help start churches throughout the Roman world and inspired him to write much of the New Testament. Paul used to kill Christians—but even that didn’t disqualify him in God’s eyes!
God has never sought out perfect people for his plans. He looks for willing people. You don’t need to be ready enough, or good enough, or smart enough. You just need to be willing to let God work in and through you.
Bring him a willing heart and remember—you'll never go alone. He’s with you always!
Pray: God, before I even know what the next steps are that you have for me, I am willing! Help me to not focus on my own shortcomings, but to keep my focus on you. Amen.
