Read:
Mary loved Jesus so much, she poured a twelve-ounce jar of perfume out onto his feet. This perfume wasn’t just pricey; it was a year’s worth of wages. But to Mary, the value of this rare perfume was nothing compared to the value Jesus brought to her life.
When you've experienced the grace of Jesus, generosity stops feeling like sacrifice and starts looking like gratitude. Mary knew this. But to everyone else in the room, it seemed like a complete waste of money—even poor stewardship. After all, it’s natural to think of all the good that could have been accomplished with that much money.
But Jesus saw what everyone else missed: Mary's extravagant gift wasn't wasteful. It was an act of worship. And to Jesus, that was far more valuable than perfume.
When you pour everything out for Jesus, you lose nothing. It's gain, not loss. It's worship, not waste.
Jesus held nothing back from us. He willingly went to the cross and paid our debt so we could receive eternal life. Our extravagant worship toward Jesus is in response to his sacrifice—and it never goes to waste.
Pray: God, I want to have a heart like Mary’s. If there’s anything I’m holding back from you, point that out to me and help me see the greater value of offering it to you, with a heart of worship. Amen.
