Read:
Saul wasn’t looking for God. He was on his way to arrest people who followed Jesus—letters in hand, momentum on his side, completely convinced he was right. And that’s exactly when Jesus showed up. Light from heaven flashed around him, bright enough to drop him to the ground. Then, he heard a voice: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
Saul was in the middle of a mission against Jesus when grace found him. He hadn’t softened on his own or started asking questions. If anyone was beyond reach, it was him. Yet he’s the one Jesus stopped in the road.
Jesus finds a lot of us that way, too—on a schedule we didn’t pick: through a conversation that wrecked us, a season where we fell apart, or a moment we can look back on and identify as a turning point. Jesus doesn’t wait until we have it all together. He often moves in when we don’t.
The question was never whether God would come after you. He already has. The only thing left to decide is whether you’ll stop running and turn around.
Pray: God, thank you for the moment you interrupted my life—even when I didn’t want it in the moment. I can see now you were after me, not against me. Keep interrupting me whenever I need it so I don’t miss what you’re trying to do in my life. Amen.
