Head
Mary's story begins with an announcement that would completely change her life. An angel tells a young woman that she will become the mother of the Messiah. This wasn't simply exciting news—it was overwhelming. Mary would face questions, misunderstanding, and uncertainty. Her reputation could be damaged. Her future plans would change. Her life would no longer follow the path she expected.
Yet Mary's response is remarkable: “I am the Lord's servant.” Before she understood every detail, she surrendered to God's plan.
Mary shows us that surrender isn't passive resignation. It's active trust. She wasn't saying, “I guess I have no choice.” She was saying, “God, because you are faithful, I trust you with my life.”
Throughout Scripture, God often calls people into things they could never accomplish on their own. Mary reminds us that God's invitations are often bigger than our abilities because they require dependence on him.
Heart
Most of us are comfortable following God as long as his plans fit inside our own. We want God to bless our dreams, but Mary shows us a deeper kind of faith: allowing God to interrupt our plans with something better.

Pray Mary's prayer today:
“I am the Lord's servant.”
Identify one area where you've been holding tightly to your own plans and intentionally release it to God.
Pray: God, give me Mary's faith. Help me trust you when your plans are different from mine. Teach me to surrender control and believe that your purposes are always better than my own. Amen.
