Read: Exodus 3:1-14

A coach can teach their team new skills and motivate them to succeed on game day. A mentor can help a coworker learn the ropes and advance in his or her career. But sometimes the questions of life don’t have a coach or mentor. Sometimes we feel like we’re floundering, unsure what to do, where to go, or how to take the next step.

Here is Moses. Born to Jewish parents, he was raised by Pharaoh's daughter. Raised with money, education, and power, Moses also had a God-given desire to help the enslaved Hebrews. He killed a slave master and fled to the desert, married a Midianite, and became the shepherd of his father-in-law’s sheep.

Only after 40 years in the desert did God appear to Moses, in the burning bush, and tell him the next phase of his plan.

God’s plan is perfect. But what do we do when God hasn’t yet told us the next phase of the plan?

We can use the waiting time as a preparation time. When we understand God’s grace through the death of Jesus for our sins, our lives are changed in an instant. Our lives are also changed little by little as God works in us to make us more like Christ.

Are you seeking wisdom for your next step and feeling at a loss? Ask God to help you make the most of this time, and to prepare for what comes next.

Prayer: God, your plan and timing are perfect. Sometimes it is hard to wait! Help me to use this time to fully follow you and to help others follow as well, so that we can be ready for whatever you have planned for us next. Amen.
