No one had room for Mary and Joseph to have their baby. The best anyone could do was a dirty, dingy manger. Everywhere else was occupied—and so was everyone’s attention.
Some things don’t change. Our schedules are packed, our minds are racing, and we’re constantly seeking achievements and attention. After that, there’s just no space left for Jesus.
But he still shows up, patiently waiting for our hearts to open up.
Jesus isn’t one to force his way in. He waits patiently for whatever room we give him in our calendars, our thoughts, and our attention, even if it’s small. But the more space we can give him, the more our relationship with him—and our faith—will grow.
