Read:
Paul is living under house arrest in Rome, yet even there he keeps welcoming people and boldly teaching them about Jesus.
It’s such an unexpected ending. After everything that unfolds in Acts, you’d think it would end with a dramatic final scene. Instead, it ends with Paul still talking about Jesus.
And that’s the point. The story is left open because it's still unfolding. Nothing has stopped it yet, and nothing—not suffering, setbacks, or opposition—will.
Sometimes the obstacles we face feel like the end of our story. We see the pain we carry and the limitations we bump into and assume that's all our lives will ever amount to. But Acts teaches us that God keeps working, even in the middle of hard circumstances.
Paul was literally imprisoned and God’s message forward. That means your obstacles don’t have the final say either. Your hardships may be real, but so is God’s ability to work through them. He’s never depended on perfect conditions to change lives. He’ll always be working.
Prayer: God, thank you that nothing can stop your work. When I feel discouraged by obstacles, remind me that you are still moving, still redeeming, and still writing a bigger story. Help me trust you and stay faithful right where I am. Amen.
