Read:
Ever felt completely unqualified for something? That’s exactly how Joshua felt when he had to step into Moses’ shoes.
For years, Joshua watched Moses lead the Israelites out of slavery, through the wilderness, and right up to the edge of the Promised Land. Moses was the one who spoke with God face-to-face, parted the Red Sea, and guided millions of people through one impossible situation after another. And now, after Moses’ death, God called Joshua to take his place.
That’s a big mantle to carry. And it’s no wonder Joshua felt fear creeping in.
But instead of giving Joshua a list of strategies or leadership tips, God gave him a promise. He told him to be strong and courageous—not because Joshua had all the answers, but because God would be with him every step of the way.
Courage without strength isn’t enough. And strength without courage doesn’t get you very far either. We need both—and more than that, we need the God who provides them.
If you feel in over your head right now, this verse is for you. You don’t have to face it alone. God goes with you.
Pray: Lord, I don’t always feel strong or brave. But you promise to be with me, and that’s what I need most. Remind me today that I’m not facing this by myself. Fill me with courage and strength. Amen.
