Read:
Esther was a young Jewish woman living in Persia. She had a simple upbringing, raised by her cousin Mordecai after losing her parents. She never expected to become queen, but God placed her in exactly that position.
The king’s advisor, Haman, hated the Jewish people. Haman convinced the king to issue a royal decree ordering the annihilation of all Jews throughout the Persian Empire. For Esther’s people, it was a death sentence.
Esther faced an impossible choice. The king didn’t know Esther was Jewish—should she keep her secret and spare her own life, or speak up about Haman’s plan, revealing her identity, for the lives of others?
Esther didn’t use her status to protect herself. She leveraged her influence to save thousands of people. By exposing the plot against her people and pleading for their safety, Esther saved the Jewish nation and preserved the family line that would eventually bring us to Jesus.
You may not be a queen, but you have influence where God has placed you. How might God use your position right now to accomplish good in the world?
