We often ask God to change our circumstances before we ever ask him to examine our hearts. “Search me” is a vulnerable prayer. It asks God to look beneath the surface and show you what’s really going on inside—past the carefully curated version of yourself you try to present to the world.
This prayer isn’t handing God a mic and inviting him to roast you, though. It’s inviting him to lovingly show you your blind spots. God may reveal things you’ve ignored or justified—attitudes, patterns, or wounds that quietly shape your decisions. But whatever he reveals comes from love. He isn't exposing you to shame you, but to heal you.
Pray: God, search me and know my heart. Show me anything in me that doesn’t reflect you or draw me closer to you. Give me the humility to receive what you reveal and the courage to respond. I want to walk in your ways, not my own. Amen.
