STOP

Pause and think about your words over the past few days.

Your words aren’t random—they reveal what’s going on in your heart. The way you talk to and about people has the power to build them up or tear them down.

  • What have your conversations sounded like lately?
  • Have your words been encouraging or negative?
  • Have you said anything you regret—or things you wouldn’t say if the person were there?

Be honest. This helps you see the impact of your words.

EXHALE

Take a deep breath in…hold it…and slowly breathe out.

Let go of frustration or negativity.

Ask God to shape your heart so your words can reflect him.

Inhale“Change my heart…”

Exhale“…so I can speak life.”

LOOK

“Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them…Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

— Ephesians 4:29, 31–32

ASK

  • Who have your words impacted recently?
  • Is there anything you need to apologize for or make right?
  • Who can you intentionally encourage today?

Choose one person and be intentional.

HEAR

Sit quietly and ask: “God, who needs encouragement from me?”

If someone comes to mind, write their name down—and act on it.
