Bible Reading / The 7 Temptations You're Probably Fighting

Day 2 | Lust and the Habit You Fight Alone

Read:

  • 1 Corinthians 6:18

There's a fight a lot of people are losing in silence. Lust. Porn. Fantasy. Whatever you call it, you're probably convinced you're the only Christian who deals with it. You're not.

The shame that comes with sexual temptation has a way of isolating you—keeping you stuck in the same cycle, alone, convinced that if anyone knew, they'd think differently of you. That isolation is part of what makes this fight so hard to win.

Paul doesn't write about this to shame anyone. He writes plainly because the truth is the only thing that actually helps: "Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18, NLT). He names it directly because pretending it isn't happening is exactly what keeps people stuck.

You don't have to fix this today. But you do have to stop fighting it alone. The thing you can't tell anyone is the thing keeping you stuck. Freedom almost always starts with telling one person you trust.

Pray: God, I'm tired of fighting this alone. Help me stop pretending and start being honest—with you and with someone safe in my life. I know you're not shocked by what I'm carrying. Give me the courage to bring it into the light. Amen.
