Read:

Mary was a small-town girl, engaged to a carpenter named Joseph. Her life was simple, predictable, and safe—until an angel appeared with a life-changing message: by God’s power, she would become pregnant and bear the Savior of the world.

In Mary’s culture, an unwed pregnancy could bring shame at best—or death at worst. But instead of arguing for her self-preservation, Mary responded to the angel by simply saying, “I am the Lord's servant. May everything you have said about me come true” (Luke 1:38, NLT).

Mary’s trust and obedience allowed God’s plan of salvation to unfold.

Mary’s valor took the form of quiet trust, never doubting God’s control. She simply did the best she could with everything God entrusted to her—from raising Jesus, nurturing him in his early life, and witnessing the beginnings of his ministry. And her obedience allowed God’s plan of salvation to unfold.

Is God calling you to courage? A simple “yes” can open the door for him to do something incredible in and through you.
